Bristol IAS & WUN Visitors’ Blog

The University of Bristol’s Institute of Advanced Studies and the Worldwide Universities Network are bringing academic visitors from all over the world to Bristol in order to facilitate collaborations and research.

This blog captures these visitors’ experiences and accomplishments during their time in Bristol.

In all our activities, our aim is to create circumstances in which people come together to generate ideas that otherwise might not see the light of day. The Institute for Advanced Studies and the Worldwide Universities Network both facilitate visits from international academics to the University of Bristol.

We also support exchange between the University, industry and the cultural sector, encouraging co-produced research. Similarly, we aim to make the research of visiting international scholars available to the broader academic community and beyond, meanwhile creating discussion around significant topical issues and ideas.

rfh-facade-2The purpose of the Institute for Advanced Studies is to enhance research and intellectual life at the University of Bristol by funding workshops and fellowships in pursuit of new ideas; by staging distinguished lectures and lively debates; and by facilitating interaction between Bristol academics and outstanding scholars from overseas and elsewhere in the UK. The IAS encompasses all disciplines within the University, promotes creative interdisciplinarity, and seeks to extend the public reach of the University through dissemination activities and external collaborations. We are also part of a growing network of IAS-designated units and centres both nationally and internationally.
